Student Info!
Dear Student,
You will be joining nearly 200 other student musicians and artists from across Colorado for the Colorado Core Knowledge Schools Arts Festival. This page contains important information to help your day go well.
WHAT DO I DO BEFORE THE FESTIVAL?
Prepare:
MUSICIANS:
*Learn your music. Ask your director for help with the challenging parts: notes,
rhythms, phrasing, style, etc.
*Number the measures on all music.
*Get good rest. The day is full and you will need your energy.
*Choir – put music into a black, 3-ring binder.
ART STUDENTS:
* Familiarize yourself with the style and focus that you will be working on.
*Bring any requested art supplies!
JOURNALISTS:
*Visualize story ideas and develop lead-ins for potential publishable stories.
*Bring a notebook and at least two writing utensils.
*Bring your school camera if available.
WHEN DO I LEAVE FESTIVAL MORNING?
Time:
As you will be leaving on a Friday or Monday morning. We advise all carpool drivers to meet at the school at ____________ a.m.
My Ride:
Please do not assume everything is set with you and your ride unless you have checked and double checked! Today, verify:
- Your ride
- The time you are meeting
- The place you are leaving from.
Unless your director sets things differently, your morning should look like this:
MEETING PLACE: _____________________________________
TIME OF ARRIVAL: _____________ a.m.
TIME OF DEPARTURE: _____________ a.m.
Return back school must be verified as well. Some will only need the ride to the host school, while others will need the round-trip carpool.
WHAT DO I WEAR?
Day time rehearsal/Clinics:
Students should be dressed in business casual. Be comfortable but still look nice. If you wear jeans, they cannot have any holes, tears or stains.
Art Show/Concert Attire:
Black and white is the concert attire: A white shirt/blouse with black slacks/skirt; men, a neck tie; women, simple jewelry is OK, nothing too “sparkly”. Men, don’t forget to wear dark socks and shoes. Ladies, it is recommended that you wear dark shoes if possible. Also, be sure that your clothing is modest and professional.
If you have any questions, see your music director.
Bring attire in a clothing bag clearly labeled with your name and school.
Where will I keep my Art Show/Concert Attire?
A room will be provided for you.
Keep purses and valuables with you.
WHAT ABOUT MEALS?
Breakfast:
You will need to eat before you leave on Monday morning. We do not want to expect the parent driving to stop to feed you.
Lunch and Dinner:
- You are required to bring your own bag lunch (Students are not allowed to leave the school facilities during the day. In other words, do NOT plan on leaving to buy a fast-food lunch.)
- Dinner is provided for you at the school where the Festival will be.
Snacks:
You are strongly encouraged to bring water bottles, and food to snack on during the breaks. A full day rehearsal is exhausting and you will need the nourishment to continue at your best. Recommended foods would be:
